Episode #29 Special guest Allison Parkinson

Allison Parkinson is a London-based children’s author and illustrator. She writes and illustrates picture books and chapter books, published by Tiger’s Eye Books.

Her stories take young readers on fun and educational adventures where they can encounter talking tigers and creepy clocks – and make friends with a time-travelling 10-year-old.

Allison’s books celebrate diversity. She was inspired to start writing after her daughters (who are mixed race) complained about the lack of leading characters that looked like them – especially in chapter books. By basing many of her characters and illustrations on her daughters, she hopes to do her small bit to help more children see themselves at the center of stories.

In her bi-weekly podcast: Tiger’s Eye Tales, Allison shares her stories and also recommends children’s books by other authors on a wide range of subjects and themes.

She can also help others share their stories (whether they be corporate, personal or fictional) through her copywriting, editing and proofreading services.
